Week 11

Week eleven went by very fast. Friday grades were due for midterm evaluations, so that process was hectic. It is amazing to see how fast assignments can multiply in a short time. The most beneficial part of this week was getting the experience of entering grades and being able to post comments to all my students. It was neat to be able to give positive feedback to all of my students on their report cards.

What I would change this week would be to set my deadline for assignments earlier in the week. I was accepting assignments on Friday and I had to finalize my grades Friday. This made Friday a little crazy. I could have made things a little easier on myself if everything would have been due on Thursday. My thought process was to give students every opportunity to turn in their work, but I would definitely change this for next time.

  1. Getting grades in can be hectic. Our grades were to be in on Monday which made finishing up grading difficult on Friday. My Coop usually lets her students hand in work until two days before she must post the grade. This seems to work well because it gives her a chance to grade their work and post the grade.

  2. I made the same mistake my first year of teaching. I wanted to give my students as much time as possible to complete their work and in the end, I made a ton of work for me. I only had a little time to complete the grading before I needed to enter my grades by the deadline. We all learn best by creating situations that we know we have to correct the next time we come to that same challenge.
